In the evening both of them met at a traditional gujarati restaurant to eat a gujarati thali. The restaurant's ambiance depicted a blend of warmth induced in traditional architecture. It was Kriti's favorite restaurant to go to whenever she was in Rajkot.
Both of them had given their orders and were waiting for their food to arrive. Their conversation was just about usual topics. Both were afraid to broach the issue and address the elephant in th oom. But sometimes one has to get through a bit of discomfort to attain closure and Kriti decide hat she would do it.
"What happened to us?", he asked out of the blue.
To say Kriti was stunned would be an understatement. She hadn't expected him to ask it. Bu fter a few seconds of awkward silence she answered, "we fell apart because of time an istance".
"Or maybe we fell apart because of our lack of effort after a certain point of time. And to be honest it was neither of our fault", he stated the bitter truth.
Whatever he'd just said was absolutely true. But her stubbornness wasn't ready to accept it an aid, " Or maybe our priorities shifted towards more important things like building business ", she completed in an authoritative voice.
Knowing how adamant she can be he let her be and asked safer questions. The dinner came to an end and both walked towards the hotel she was staying in as it was just ten minutes away.
He'd planned to hail a rickshaw from there on.
They reached outside her hotel. Just as he opened his mouth to bid her goodbye, she defeate him to it and blurted, "Do you wanna come upstairs for coffee?" She didn't want him to leave he gain because they'd just met. She wasn't ready for separation yet.
He nodded and walked with her towards the elevator. Elevator stopped at the third floor an ollowed her towards the direction of her suite. He thought, 'wouldn't krunal be there?'
His unasked question was answered by her, "Krunal has gone to meet some of his friends in th ity. He wouldn't come until it's late."
'Phew!', he thought, otherwise Krunal would've been furious. She pulled out the key card fro he pocket of her jeans and opened the door.
They entered and she went towards the kitchen while he wandered around the suite, it containe wo rooms, a lounging area and a small kitchen. After a few minutes he entered the kitchen an aw her making coffee. Out of curiosity he asked a question he'd been meaning to ask for a long time, "do you ever think how we could be something more than just friends?"
She stilled, her right hand tightening around the cup's holder, a brief moment where her eye ere closed.
She nodded slightly.
Happy at the response he walked towards her slowly. He placed his hands on the counter beside her. Caging her in his vicinity but not touching her. She turned off the gas and turned, now facin im. He looked down into her eyes, She looked up at him. He was looking very attractive at tha oment, with his slightly ruffled hair, high cheekbones, pointed nose and her favorite pair o rown eyes.
She looked absolutely lovely to him. With her straight black hair, open. Her green eyes looke lightly gold induced. His eyes went on her lips. She had a cupid's bow. She noticed th movement of his eyes towards her lips.
He looked into her eyes and asked," Can I?"
"Yes," she replied.
