The day of the wedding arrived, it was an opulent wedding. The mandap was decorated with various kinds of flowers consisting vibrant hues of orange, yellow, red, pinks and greens. And as the Gujaratis are known for their hospitality it was at its peak. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, chatter and reunions.
Kriti looked ethereal in white panetar which her dad had designed for her. The white silk fabric of panetar looked beautiful with a zardozi border. It symbolized grace and her love for her family.
She walked down the aisle with her father. Aarav was standing near the small Havan kund.
Kalpesh took Kriti's hand and kept it in Aarav's and said, " I trust you with my daughter, keep her happy ".
"I will", he replied sincerely.
The wedding rituals started and all other voices became a distant hum. It was the most anticipated day of their life. They were asked to stand up for Mangal pheras.
First phera signified dharma, second signified Artha, third signified kama and fourth signified moksha. After the third phera, Kriti was asked to wear the gharchola. Gharchola was a saree consisting of intricate patterns in vibrant colors given by the groom's family to the new bride. It signified acceptance from her in-laws.
She left the mandap and came back wearing gharchola. It is to be worn on panetar so the outfit had both, the gharchola and the panetar. Gharchola that she was wearing was designed by her father-in-law and Aarav. It was a masterpiece of bandhani work in the colors of red and maroon, it was a blend of cotton and silk fabric using gold threads. It consisted of lotus motifs. The last phera was done.
Then came sindoor daan. Their eyes met while he was applying sindoor to her forehead and she smiled faintly. Then he was asked to tie a mangalsutra around her neck. He again looked at her and jokingly said, "You have one last chance to change your mind".
From behind her Kalpesh said, "Beta, please change your mind".
She giggled listening to it and said, "Tie it".
He tied a mangalsutra around her neck. They were finally married. They got up and too veryone's blessings and hence the wedding was over.
